WYNDHAM HOTEL EMPLOYEES TO USE MARCH MADNESS PICKET LINE TO CALL A FOUL ON MANAGEMENT FOR SEEKING UNREASONABLE CONCESSIONS IN CONTRACT TALKS

Hotel Workers to use informational picket to tell Wyndham March Madness guests that a fair contract should be a slam dunk

Pittsburgh– On Thursday, March 15 March Madness guests entering the Wyndham Grand Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh, including players competing in the NCAA Tournament opening rounds at the Consol Energy Center this week, will have to cross an informational picket line set up by Wyndham Hotel workers who have been working without a contract since October 1, 2011.

Workers are upset because Wyndham management has not come to the table with terms the employees can take seriously. At the request of Wyndham management, Unite Here Local 57 put the company’s latest contract offer to a vote and the Wyndham workers rejected it 122 to 3.

“We want to welcome March Madness and the NCAA to Pittsburgh," said Mary Ann Campbell, a server who has worked at the Wyndham for 25 years.  "Events like this come to Pittsburgh and keep coming back because of the service we provide.  We make the Wyndham Grand." said Ms. Campbell.
