Keystone Progress leads PA delegation to White House on Friday
150
Pennsylvanians to meet with Administration officials to discuss issues
(HARRISBURG)—Keystone Progress (KP),
Pennsylvania’s largest online progressive organizations, has been invited by
the White House to organize a delegation of Pennsylvanians for a Community
Leaders Briefing (CLB) in the White
House this Friday.
The goals of the
White House Community Leaders Briefing Series are:
·
To
ensure the public is well-informed about government policies and programs and
how they can utilize these resources;
·
To
ensure that the White House is hearing from the public about how government
policies and programs can serve them better; To brief leaders on the tools and resources available
to their communities, so that they can return home better armed to connect
individuals to the policies and programs of the federal government.
The
delegation will meet with senior officials in the morning, likely including
cabinet members and close advisors to President Obama. A recent CLB included meetings with Lisa Jackson (Administrator of the Environmental
Protection Agency), David Plouffe
and Valerie Jarrett (Senior Advisors
and Assistants to the President). This
week’s CLB will include people at that level who will spend the morning listening
to concerns and answering questions from the PA delegation.
Keystone
Progress is leading the PA delegation of 150 leaders. Those participating come from 22 counties and
represent dozens of KP partner organizations, including United Food and Commercial
Workers 1776, Education Voters PA, SEIU Healthcare PA, Know Your Care and
Equality PA.
That
session will be followed by a tour of the East Wing. The afternoon will be spent in smaller group
meetings with Administration officials focused on issues such as education,
jobs, LGBT concerns and immigration.
Keystone
Progress is Pennsylvania’s largest online progressive organization, with over
270,000 subscribers. KP uses the internet
and new media to organize online at the state and local level; and utilizes cutting-edge
earned media strategies to promote a progressive agenda and counter right-wing
misinformation.

Live Tweet Up with the White House Monday @ 4:00 PM
Keystone Progress is working with the White House to conduct
a Pennsylvania-focused Tweet Up.
What’s a Tweet Up? It’s an opportunity to ask questions of
senior White House staff about issues that concern you. The difference is that your questions and the
answers will be transmitted via Twitter.
That means short and quick answers (140 characters).
Here’s how it works:
- Follow Keystone Progress on Twitter @KeystoneProgres
- Using #AtTheWH send us your questions You can send questions either before the event or during.
- White House staff will live Tweet starting at 4:00 on Monday, March 19.
- By following @KeystoneProgress and #AtTheWH you will be able to read the answers to all of the questions.
- Answers will come from a variety of WH staff, but primarily from Jon Carson @JonCarson44
- Since this week is the Second Anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act, we anticipate many questions about healthcare reform.
- After the Tweet Up, the White House will create a "Storify" blog post with the full Q&A and send it to us. It will also be available on our blog at www.keystoneprogress.blogspot.com
Whether or not you can join us, make sure you follow us @KeystoneProgres
